"Meet The MAC" Night

We had a great night last night (March 3, 2010) unveiling the plans for The MAC (Multi-purpose Activity Center) to the public!  We had an awesome turnout and our first pledge of $20,000 from the Wellness Committee to help fund a Fitness Trail.  We also had a pledge from a local family to help get the donations started!

We received a lot of good questions and saw great support for the project.  

The MAC is going to be a regional facility that will serve a 9-county area.  It will be donor/grant funded and membership-driven.  It won't be a taxed project, so it can only benefit the area.  Locals, as well as, travelers will be able to benefit from this health-related complex!  Check out the website by clicking on the link at the top of the page.

First Project May Be a Walking Trail

As things are progressing the diversity of The MAC and its Board tends to attract attention. Different people who have various connections are using those in a positive way.  Recently, a group known as the Wellness Committee was brought into connection with us.  It is our understanding that they have access to funds to produce a walking trail.  The good news is that The MAC has some ground for which to put a walking trail on.  So, we are meeting soon to discuss the possible merger of this idea with our two groups. 


We also recently have been working with Vern Henricks to help us get started with some fund raising efforts.  This is just starting to get off the ground.

We're Movin' Along

Now that the pool decision made it through the voting process, then we are moving forward a little more quickly. We'd love to have the Colby Pool combined with our efforts to make it a bigger community draw to have two recreational centers in one location!

There would be multiple opportunities for people to take advantage of what both centers will offer!

We are on the agenda for the November 17th City Council Meeting! We're excited to show the Council and City Manager why we should be working together on this project.

News from June 11th Meeting

1. We had a conference call with a group from Denver that has completed some research for our area, in regards to a direction the MAC should take. Take our poll to see what you may be interested in the most.
2. Our financial reports look good. Fund raising will be one of the next phases to help with the project. We are looking at getting grants for funding. Our Economic Director is gratefully helping with that.
3. One way we are going to try to get the news out to the public is through this blog. Leave a comment if you have something specific you'd like to know about - now or as time goes on.

News from June 4th Meeting

1. Colby's new Economic Director, Rick Patrick, joined us and gave us a lot of positive leads for grants and fund raising!
2. We decided that we are going to endow some money, so people can donate money securely through the Thomas County Community Foundation. If you'd like to know how to do this, leave a comment or click the "contact us" at the top, to get a hold of us.
3. The MAC is going to be located east of Colby High School - this is an exciting project that our community really needs.

5. We have received our feasibility study and are getting some further information from DLDT, a firm from Denver, at our June 11th meeting.
